What's Inside the Bat Drag Fix Drill Sheet

One page. Everything you need to run the RNT drill at your next practice.

1

What Bat Drag Actually Is (and What Causes It)

Racing rear elbow defined — what it looks like from the front and from the side, why it happens at the hip level, and the three symptoms that confirm the diagnosis before you start drilling.

2

The RNT Resistance Band Setup

Two bands positioned high on the thighs — one feeding the front-knee-stays-bent mistake, one feeding the back-knee-stays-straight mistake. Band weights, positioning, and a clear safety protocol so no one gets hit by a swinging bat.

3

Finger Pressure — The Connection Cue

Bottom three fingers of the top hand, squeezed from foot-lift to contact. This is the single most common reason RNT corrections don't hold. Apply it on every rep — with or without the bands.

4

Full Drill Protocol Table

Phase 1 (broken swing), Phase 2 (full swing with bands), Phase 3 (band-free check), maintenance. Rep counts, coaching cues, and what to look for in each phase.

5

Common Errors + Fixes (5 Mistakes)

Bat drag returning when bands come off, front knee won't straighten, hitter accommodating instead of resisting, back knee collapsing, drill works on the tee but not live pitching — each with the exact coaching adjustment.

Coaches & players using the HPL hitting system

"Minimum of 10-mph was added to exit velocity. What you say/teach works."
Jared Rehm 12U Softball & Varsity Softball Coach
"Exit velocities that my hitters never thought possible. Three girls going D1, six at D2, two to JUCOs. I credit the HPL approach for proving the science."
Ronny Weber Baseball & Softball Coach
"He was batting .320 no HRs. Last 30 games he batted .560 as a righty and .584 as a lefty with 5 HRs!"
Jack A. Martin Youth Baseball Coach
